Live stream postcard from the Faroe Islands
Following up on my Live stream postcard from Greece, this time we are visiting the Faroe Islands! The excuse for spending some time there was the 5-year anniversary of being married to my wife, but also just getting away from it all. And I don’t think there are many places more suited for just that than the Faroe Islands.
Field recording
I brought with me my field recording rig and instead of focusing on taking photos (although we took some of those as well), I figured taking some audio recordings of the place would be a nice way to capture the memory. My favorite moment was probably when we came upon the most local rain I have ever seen. It was literally just a few meters. We didn’t even see it at first, just heard it. Wild! I am so happy I managed to record it!!
Another remote live stream
As in Greece, I really wanted to try to do another on-location live stream. So we did just that :) Vilde was behind the camera helping out. Since apparently Norway and the Faroe Islands don’t have a deal regarding data use, we could not use 5G without spending the whole ambient budget, but the spot riiiiight outside our hotel room had Wi-Fi reception and was still plenty atmospheric, so that’s where we did the stream. There was a nice crowd of 20 people tuning in, even if I just sent out the notification the moment I was actually live. Very nice!
I used the field recordings from the trip, including the local rain and also the recording of Captain Phillip who took us on a 4-hour sailboat ride. I was pretty tired from just coming off that boat, but was happy with how the stream turned out.
