(very) Long Bio (For press/web)

Kristoffer Lislegaard is a Norwegian electronic musician and audiovisual artist based in Oslo.

Ever since he started playing guitar in his teens he has been fascinated by ways of manipulating sound. From early experiments with guitar pedals and exploring software on his family’s home computer, he has since moved on to custom software patches, controllers, networks, modular synths, and live visuals.

His music ranges from deep meditative textures, via complex layered sound design, to big emotional buildups.

Lislegaard is also an experienced live performer. He has supported Autechre at Sentrum Scene and performed at Ekko Festival, Black Box Teater, Dansens Hus, and Moldejazz. He collaborates across disciplines and technology and has had many unique projects, like Øy his duo with tap dancer Janne Eraker. Here the sound of Eraker’s tap dance is sent into Lislegaard’s setup and used to control and affect his electronic sounds in a real-time improvisation. He has also composed for contemporary dance, theatre, film and installations.

These days Lislegaard has a big interest in the human-to-human connection in electronic music. Reflecting on how to connect and communicate his music to and with other likeminded people. Is the internet destroyed by corporate powers? Is it even ethical to use computers to make music? These are some of the questions inspiring, frustrating and affecting his art.

He is part of the BeYourOwnPlatform movement and shares his process on his blog and newsletter. Here he explores different formats like blogging, live streaming (on his self hosted Lislegaard.stream), DIY video documentaries and audio logs.

He is currently working on a new solo album, where he as a computer musician has taken a break from the screen and explored musical ideas on modular synths and an 8-track cassette recorder, before moving these recordings back to the computer to edit further.
