An open letter to Bandcamp

Dear Bandcamp,
I read your Keeping Bandcamp Human post. Thank you so much for taking a stance against generative AI and banning AI-generated music from Bandcamp. It is really important because you are by far the biggest platform for independent music artists who don’t believe in the Spotify-style streaming model.
I have been using your Songkick integration to display tour dates on my artist profile, and it has worked really well. It has been a great way for people who follow me on Bandcamp to see that I am playing concerts.
However, I recently received an email from Songkick who were writing to explain how my personal data will be handled as Songkick transitions to Suno. I was not aware of this, but apparently Suno acquired Songkick in November 2025. Suno is, of course, the biggest platform for making generative AI music, the very thing you are banning from your site.
So, I was wondering if you have any plans to replace Songkick with a different way to display concert dates? For now, I have deleted my Songkick profile and will have no concert dates on my Bandcamp profile.
Hope to see an alternative pop up that is more in line with your Bandcamp Fair Trade Music Policy.

We’re writing to explain how your personal data will be handled as Songkick transitions to Suno.
Because your Songkick account is active, your personal data will be transferred to Suno, who will become the controller responsible for that data going forward.
What data is involved?
The data transferred will be limited to what is necessary to operate the Songkick concert alert service, such as:
- Your account details
- Your artist and location preferences
- Related service information (for example, alert settings)
Nothing else about how the service works is changing right now. You’ll continue to receive alerts just as you do today.
Following the transfer, certain information relating to your use of the Songkick service may be retained by our Group on a non-active basis in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
